About me.
Shalom,
My name is Nya. I am a poetic painter and cyanotype print artist who creates striking, bold blue mixed-media images inspired by fantasy and dreamlike imagination. I am mostly self-taught, supported by wonderful mentors and creative communities over the years. At an early age, I found deep peace in my sketchbooks, I would rather draw than do almost anything else. Those pages became a refuge, and through them I began to see different parts of my creativity slowly emerge and evolve.
As a painter, I work lyrically with Indian and Sumi inks using bamboo brushes. I move with instinct and spirit, letting sweet, whimsical forms from my childhood imagination guide my creativity. Each gesture is soft, emotional, and rhythmic echoing breath, movement, and the simplicity of play.
Charcoal has recently become a new inspiration for me, allowing me to sketch raw, expressive portraits that feel almost sculptural. Pulling tones and value helps me slow down and listen more deeply; it brings a meditative stillness and a grounding balance to my practice.
Spiritually, I feel God has drawn me into a space where my creativity and neurodivergence are seen as gifts rather than limitations. After experiencing burnout, art became a place of rest, an invitation to create without judgment, to surrender, and to find quiet wonder in the dreamlike forms that appear naturally on the page.
Painting, printmaking, and charcoal drawing bring me presence, flow, and imaginative joy. I hold close the belief that we are a (poiēma) a poem, a masterpiece created by God, from the Greek meaning “something beautifully made.” I feel very grateful each day to use the imagination I’ve been given to create, express, and share beauty with the world.
